My Story
I am a caring, friendly and enthusiastic qualified teacher with over 16 years of experience working with children with SEMH needs. I consider myself someone that can help bring that sparkle back in to learning and have been nicknamed 'Cara Poppins' by previous colleagues due to my rapport with some of our most vulnerable children. Is the structure of mainstream school something your child finds difficult? Do you need support home-educating your child? If so, I can help. I started out my career path working in a nurture school providing support to children with a variety of social, emotional and behavioural issues and went on to train as a teacher in this environment. After almost 10 years of working in this setting, I moved to a mainstream school to carry out my NQT year teaching a class of 30 reception children. For a further 6 years I have worked in an alternative provision as a teacher for children on 16 week placements to provide additional support to help them to reintegrate back into mainstream. During my time in this school I was also Primary lead which involved managing and mentoring staff and helping to plan for a bespoke curriculum. The majority of children I have taught have EHCP's and need specialist support and a more individualised plan to allow them access to learning.
I believe that learning should be fun and that by incorporating individual interests into the planning, that love of learning and inquisitive nature can flourish and this is when the magic happens! I would consider it a privilege to offer my skills and experience to support any young learners to reach their full potential. I look forward to hearing from you.

Bring the love of learning back to life!
As a qualified teacher, with over 19 years of experience working with children with SEMH/SEND needs, I am passionate about supporting children that are unable to access mainstream education. I offer a private tutoring service and provide tailor made lessons to suit their specific interests and learning styles. With my nurturing style of teaching accompanied by a positive attitude and great sense of humour I am able to support a love of learning which may have been lost.

“Cara is a passionate and dedicated teacher who has always striven to provide the best outcomes for children in her care. Her key strength is around developing positive relationships both with children and their families. Cara has the rare ability to always look for the best in people and shows children with complex needs unconditional positive regard. "

"My 19 year old son has autism and is non-verbal. He has learning difficulties. Cara has been coming to our home to tutor him for 6 months now and I can tell he shows signs of progress. She is a lively teacher and kind and tolerant. Other home tutors in the past have been short tempered and shown their agitation at his hesitant manner. I have been very pleased with Cara's work and long may she come to tutor Alex!"

“Cara has been tutoring my son for the past few months. He really struggles to get on at school as he lacks attention and interest. Since he has been seeing Cara he has hugely improved with his education level but also managing to concentrate more during the school day. Choosing to have Cara tutor my son has been a great decision. She has given him so much more confidence and a new way of teaching that helps with his learning significantly. I cant thank Cara enough for what she has done and I would highly recommend her”
